Advancements and Ranks

There are 7 ranks on the path to Eagle. Eagle Scout is a highly regarded achievement in life; less than 1% of Scouts make it all the way through to Eagle Scout. Famous Scouts include civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., Sam Walton (founder of Wal-Mart), astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Jim Lovell, actors John Wayne, Harrison Ford and Jack Black, director Steven Spielberg, and president Gerald Ford.

In order to move up to the next rank, you must complete the requirements of that rank, complete a Scoutmaster's Conference and then a Board of Review with our parent Committee. Each Rank will also require specific skills that you must learn (how to cook on a camp stove, how to tie knots, first aid skills, etc.) Higher ranks will require that you serve in a leadership role and earn merit badges, which signify your skill in a variety of tasks. Merit Badges can be earned for Wilderness Survival, Radio, First Aid, Disaster Preparedness, Camping and 127 other subjects. Some Scouts have even earned them all!

Advancement, from a Scout's perspective:

Scoutmaster Conference

Before your Board of review you have a meeting with your scoutmaster and review the things you need to know to do your board of review, and its really comforting having a review before the board of review. Our amazing scoutmaster Charlie is so nice and very helpful with explaining things you are stuck on and is also very encouraging.

Board of Review

Board of reviews can be scary, because talking to a group of adults about the things you’ve learned in scouts can be difficult and nervracking especially when you forget something. Even thought it is scary everyone wants you to go up to the next rank its just the want to evaluate you and make sure you are ready for the next rank.

Court of Honor

The court of honor is where you are given your badges for merit badges, ranks, and roles! This is a fun almost party celebrating everyones achievements, and if you don’t get any merit badges or ranks thats fine you sure will next time! Roles are like different jobs we have such as the navigator which is the person who is incharge of the map and compass. We usually have food and after you get your badges you can hangout with the other scouts.
